Welcome to Evergreen!
Oh, hi! Welcome to my little corner of the internet where I explore sustainable wellbeing through the lens of positive psychology.
Now that you’ve landed here, you may be wondering who I am. You may also be asking yourself, what is Evergreen? And what are you even doing here?
So many questions for a first meeting. All fair, I suppose. Let’s take it from the top.
Who am I?
Name: Natalia.
A/S/L (the real ones know): 42/F/Miami, FL
Occupation: Wife. Mother of two “spirited” boys. Former practicing lawyer. Professional development leader at a mid-size law firm by day. Student of positive psychology at the Flourishing Center by night.
Hobbies: Reality tv, books, politics, and gastronomic enthusiast. Perpetual starter of things that I never finish.
But, this will be different.
Probably.
What is Evergreen?
Evergreen is where I plan to share my journey toward enduring wellness.
To explain why , a short story time is in order.
Last year, I had a rather frightening near-death experience. I promise to share more details about that at some point, but for now, I’ll say that the events of April 1, 2024 left me shaken, permanently scarred, and forever changed. But, what’s changed even more dramatically since then is how I think about my life and how I live it. After my accident, I thought to myself - if that had been the moment, if that had been the end, would I have been satisfied with my life?
The answer was no.
And not because there was anything wrong with my life. On the contrary. I have an AMAZING life filled with privileges and blessings beyond measure. And yet…
This realization led me down a rabbit hole that eventually led me to signing up for the CAPP Program at the Flourishing Center, where I began to learn about positive psychology and how small daily habits, mindset shifts, and attitude adjustments can make all the difference.
I chose the name Evergreen because the practices I want to share with you are not fads. They are not self-help trends or untested methods for self-improvement. Most are not even new. They are rooted in both ancient practices and modern research. They are science-backed, reliable, and foundational to a flourishing life.
What are you doing here?
Hopefully you’re here because you want to learn the secrets to sustainable wellbeing. The good news is that they’re not secrets at all. It turns out that creating greater wellness and life satisfaction is actually pretty simple. The bad news is it won’t always be easy.
But, if you stick around, you’ll hopefully walk away with new ideas, fresh inspiration, and tools you can use to make the changes you know deep down you desperately want to make. If you didn’t, would you have read this far?
In the end, my goal is to help anyone who wants to go north of neutral and thrive.
What can you expect?
Weekly posts with science-backed practices for enhancing your life. Not everything will resonate with everyone, so expect variety. And a few surprises because I’m a good time gal at heart.
I like to keep things light and fun. So while this won’t read like an academic thesis, you WILL learn new things. And if you find said things interesting and helpful, my hope is that you’ll share them far and wide because sharing is caring.
What do you do now?
Well, you subscribe. Duh.
See you next week!
Excited to learn more!
